Additional Spectrum to be surrendered to DoT from Tata Teleservices

Recently a news came from TTSL that the company is surrendering their additional CDMA spectrum of 2.5 MHz in all the circles except Delhi & Mumbai as a protest against Government decision’s to impose one time airwaves fees beyond a certain limit.

3.75 MHz of CDMA spectrum will be retained by the company in Delhi & Mumbai circles.

From January 2013 Govt. has given an order to impose one time fees for those telco operators holding above 2.5 MHz in the 800 MHz band. Basically the charges will put on those operators carrying addition spectrum beyond their license period.

Depending on the base priced fixed on the spectrum auction took place on 11th March 2013, DoT will charged the mobile operators for each block i.e single Mega hertz of frequencies on per annum basis.

In a statement TTSL told that “The company stands committed to ensuring that this will not adversely affect network or service quality and is looking to deploy additional capex to offset the reduced spectrum availability.”

India’s 2G Mobile Subscriber Base decreases in the Feb’2013

655.59 million is  the 2G mobile subscriber base &  1.97 million is the figure by which user base has fall & 8 millions users get decreased by the Uninor operator as per data released by the industrial body COAI.

657.56 million is the subcriber figure released in the last month i.e. Jan’2013.

 Again after closing down operations in several circles like Mumbai our new operator named as Uninor which is currently operating in six circles & have currently subscriber base of 31.77 million after losing 8.34 million subcribers.

 As per statement released by Uninor “The loss of subscription in February also reflects the scale Uninor was able to build within three years in the circles it was compelled to close down.”

Currently 1.2 lakh new subscribers has been added by Uninor in their recent operating circles.

Besides Aircel having 60.87 million subscriber figure after losing 0.69 million users, Videocon having 2.06 million subscriber base after letting off 0.19 million users, state-owned BSNL-MTNL having 4.91 million user base after losing 0.20 million.

 Vodafone has surprisingly added 2.18 million new users & puuting their user base to 149.88 million, Bharti Airtel also following the same path by including 2.42 million pushing the base to 186.62 million, Idea Cellular also added 2.85 million users & taking their base to 119.25 million.

9,600 crore rupees as a license fee has been owed to the Govt. by telco firms

 Rs. 9,636.34 crore is the outstanding amount for spectrum license & charge fee owed by the govt. from telco operators end & was du=irectly informed to Parliament.

Rs. 3,275.56 for spectrum usage charges and licence fee was the largest amount owned by major private telco operator Bharti Airtel soon followed by Rs. 2,092.95 crore amount of state-owned BSNl, Rs. 1,656.23 crore is the third largest amount fallen into the hands of RCom, Rs. 1,122.01 crore amount belongs to the Vodafone, Rs. 458.32 crore amount belongs to Tata Teleservices, Rs. 428.06 crore amount remains from Idea Cellular end & others, the Minister of State for Communication and IT Milind Deora has written a letter to the Lok Sabha.

 Rs. 2,199.73 crore is the penalty fee on outstanding charges imposed by the Govt.

In 2012-13 Govt. earned Rs. 6,889.28 crore from spectrum usage charges combining  auction money of 2G spectrum of around Rs 1,706.92 crore & license fee of around  Rs. 8,540.71 crore for first three quarters of the ongoing fiscal.

 11,413.23 crore were the total license fee & Rs. 4,856.05 crore were the spectrum usage charges during the previous fiscal.

Rs. 23,177.65 crore for one-time spectrum charges for spectrum beyond 4.4 MHz in respect of GSM spectrum is owed to the govt. by different telco operators a per Deora.

Tata Photon Plus Plans for prepaid & postpaid subscribers

Today One of India’s Premier Brand in CDMA Brand i.e. Tata Docomo has launched some unique plans for HSIA service under name photon plus involving both prepaid & postpaid users. 

If we talk about 3G data plans for postpaid subscribers then it is divided into two parts one is 650 rs STV offering High Speed Unlimited Data with FUP & another is 750 rs STV offering 4G Unlimited data with FUP with 30 days validity. After data is used up to 3 GB & 4 GB respectively the speed will fall from 3.1 Mbps to 153.6 Kbps. Again to retain this speed of this plan the users will activate the new speed booster pack at the rate of Rs 125.

 10 GB data will be accessed for prepaid subscribers for Rs 300 & 30 days validity. Again, users can extend their validity by recharging with FRC Rs 350  will get 1GB extra for first four recharges on all recharges with MRP 350 and above. This plan will be only applicable in Andhra Pradesh Circle.

Telco Operators like Airtel, Vodafone leads in tems of mobile user complaints

Again there is warfare between some major telco operatos like Airtel, Vodafone, Tata Docomo & Reliance in terms of Mobile User complaints mostly in terms of billing, VAS Chargeable issues, tariff issues.

As per Milind Deora our honourable Minister of State for Communication and IT has passed out an information received from Trai that almost 2,419 complaints were registered during the current financial year 2012-13 related mostly to billing & tariff complaints related to overcharging.

Mobile User Complaints is normally considered  as the biggest black mark in the history of telecom industry.

If we talk about the number of user complaints received by Trai was mostly from Airtel (745) followed by Vodafone (505), then Tata Docomo (345), Rcom (329), Idea Cellular (194), Bharat Sanchar Nigma Ltd (BSNL) (122), MTNL (36) and all others (143).

Tata Communication providing some managed solutions for telco roaming operations

Recently Tata Communications has launched some managed service solution for other telco operators in controlling their roaming operations  as well as streamline roaming for 4G networks.

Already Company said in a statement that to support roaming facilities in telco network Tata Communications has launched totally a new segment i.e. ‘Virtual Private Roaming Hub’ and ‘LTE Roaming Service’.

Of them first one will support roaming operations & the latter will support 4G streamline roaming operations.

To protect from telco operators & consumers mobile spam, the company has bulit up ‘Managed SMS Firewall’.

GPRS Packs are revised by Tata Docomo for Rs 95, 1GB

Like Airtel, Vodafone & Idea, Tata Docomo has slowly & steadily increased the 2G data tariff. For Rs 95, Docomo is offering 1 GB 2G data for 30 days. The plans were recently changed by  withdrawing it & also by reducing validity.

This plans are already revised & are being used in Kerala circle, but in other circle there might be slight alteration in price in these 2G data packs.

Rs 125 & Rs 249 GPRS Packs were also lately introduced with 1.25 GB & 3G data for 30 days period only.

2g data tariffs hiked by all telco operators in India

Recently all the telco operators has hiked their voice tariff as well as GPRS tariff like Airtel, Vodafone & Idea has reduced the 2G data tariff by Rs 98, Uninor has reduced  6GB to 3GB data & the price stands at Rs 90, Earlier Tata Docomo was providing 6GB data at STV 95 & right now the tariff has revised to 3GB for STV 98. Most notably Govt. based telco operator BSNL also reduced the 2G data usage from 2GB to 1.25GB at STV 98.

There were some major changes in this 2G data plans introduced by these telco operators.

1. For Rs 95-99, 650 MB in 21 days ( earlier it was 1 GB for 30 days).

2.For Rs 123-126, 1 GB in 30 days.

3. For Rs 145-149, 1.25 GB in 30 days, earlier it was  1.5GB or 30 days.

4. For Rs 198, 2 GB + Unlimited @ 40kbps for 30 days which was earlier priced at Rs 149.

Likewise 45 percent more data is being offered only by BSNL on home & roaming network.
