Recently a good news from Blackberry CEO that Blackberry Messenger or BBM will be coming to multi operating system i.e. Android & iOS phones. Again it will provide an extensive support iOS hardware running iOS 6 and above; same with the Android version but with 4.0 version i.e. Ice cream Sandwich & above. ”It’s time to bring BBM to a greater audience,” CEO Thorsten Heins said in announcing the expansion, “no matter what mobile device they carry.”

Hitesh Shah,Commercial Relationship Director for Blackberry announced that this new innovative plan will be for those users who possess the SIM of Aircel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone.

Blackberry Messenger is the only choice left for those users falling under this plan residing in  metros and top four telecom circles of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

 Email, BlackBerry Messenger, instant messaging, social networking, Internet browsing, as well as access to the BlackBerry World application store were some of the unique services offered from company’s end. Few smart phones like BlackBerry Curve 9220 & BlackBerry Curve 9320 with Blackberry OS comes under this plan.

Hitesh Shah quoted that “We are trying to get deeper into market with affordable plans. For 15 telecom circles which excludes metros and category A circles, BlackBerry will offer consumer access to all BlackBerry Services for Rs 129 limited up to 1GB,”

Tablet market may be dead soon in the upcoming years as per quoted by Blackberry CEO, since the tablet market is moving on quite steadily.

Thorsten Heins Chief Executive Officer of Blackberry commented in an interview “In five years I don’t think there’ll be a reason to have a tablet anymore,Maybe a big screen in your work space, but not a tablet as such. Tablets themselves are not a good business model,” in Los Angeles at Milken Institute conference.

Heins said that in the upcoming five years Blackberry will be the market leader in advanced mobile computing & also commented that He wants to capture as much as market share not by copy cat.

Again we saw tablet like a device in the 2013 road map but Blackberry seems to have different prospective when we talk about tablet industry.

Number of handsets shipped in the Q4 2012 was 438.1 million, out of which 50 percent were smart phones shipped i.e. 216.5 million units. This handset shipment almost increased by 37 percent as compared to 2011. The shipment of these mobile phones were sent across 50+ countries. This data were estimated by Canalys an Independent analyst firm.

Again there was a close look at the mobile OS platform, mostly 34 percent of the total mobile phone shipments were Android based & 11 percent were iOS6 , all these different OS based phones shipped into Q4 2012. Again only 69 percent of Android based smart phones i.e. 216.5 million units were shipped, second was iOS based smart phones was 22 percent, third was Blackberry OS based smart phones was 3.5 percent shipped i.e. 7.6 million, others OS based smart phones were low in terms of percentage like Microsoft possess 2.4 percent, Nokia contains 1.5 percent & rest possess 1.4 percent respectively.

Next as per research conducted by Canalys, Samsung tops in tems of smart phones shipments i.e. 29 percent of all smart phones shipped i.e. 62.9 million in number. Apple holds the second position & 47.8 million smart phones were shipped i.e. 22.1 percent. Huawei & ZTE occupy the third & fourth position. While Sondy drops from fifth position & Lenovo has replaced the Sony. 64.6 million units of smart phones out of total smart phones i.e. 216.5 million units shipped to China.

Research in Motion (RIM) has confirmed to TechRadar that the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will be getting BB10 OS when it’s complete.

Whereas there’s no statement on any new tablet hardware (the prospect of the PlayBook row is absolutely in fluctuation), existing owners will be reassured to listen to that they’ll get advantage from the renovate BlackBerry 10 OS – which is based on the similar QNX platform as the present Playbook OS.

“We’ve said in public a couple of times that our first BB10 phone will be accessible towards the end of 2012, and that’s still definitely the case,” Rob Orr, RIM’s VP of product management told TechRadar.

“At various positions following the launch we’ll bring BB10 to our PlayBooks, yes.”
