DTH Subscribers in India may reach 76.6 million by 2020

As per some study due to the decision to make the digitization permanent which help the DTH players to expand their subscriber base & by 2020 Indian DTH market will watch the revenue grow of 3 times to more than 5 billion USD.

In 2012 the Indian DTH market may have a clocked revenue of 1.5 billion USD.

Media Partners Asia a Hong-Kong based Research firm commented that”DTH industry revenues will reach USD 3.9 billion by 2017 and USD 5.3 billion by 2020. Revenue growth will be largely driven by increasing subscriber volumes.”

 32.4 million in 2012 to 63.8 million by 2017 and 76.6 million by 2020 is the estimated growth of the active subscriber base for Indian DTH Industry & all these analysis has been done by Information service provider company named as Media Partners Asia (MPA) which deals with media, communications and entertainment industries.

Most of the contents renewal from now on will be cost per subscribers as per the weather forecasts between content aggregators and DTH operators.

3.7 million is the active subscriber base added in 2012 & also has raised a gap between gross and active subscriber bases.

MPA commented “As of end-2012, the cumulative DTH active subscriber base stood at 32.4 million subscribers versus 28.7 million subscribers in 2011.”

Again in Indian DTH market, Dish TV holds 27 market share in terms of gross subscriber additions, while Videocon d2h also following the same.

Tata Sky & Airtel possess 19 percent and 18 percent market share, overall including this 4 players total 88 percent contribution.

Social media rapidly increasing via. TV says Ericsson

Social media i.e. in other popular term known as TV has spread like a disease in a worldwide market which suddenly has put a certain mass-effect phenomenon as per Ericsson 2012 Consumer Lab Report.

Of which sixty-two percent of consumers use social media while watching TV on a weekly basis, an increase of 18 percentage points in one year. By gender, 66 percent of women engage in this behavior, compared to 58 percent of men. Twenty-five percent of consumers use social media to discuss what they are watching while they are watching it.

 

Niklas Rönnblom, Ericsson Consumer Lab Senior Advisor, says: “Mobile devices are an important part of the TV experience, as 67 percent of consumers use Smartphone’s, tablets, or laptops for TV and video viewing. Watching TV on the move is growing in popularity, and 50 percent of the time spent watching TV and video on the Smartphone, is done outside the home, where mobile broadband connections are facilitating the increase.”

The research further suggests that although viewing behaviors and demands are changing, only 7 percent of consumers say they will reduce their TV subscriptions in the future. In fact, instead of looking to cut costs, consumers are willing to pay more for an enhanced viewing experience: 41 percent of consumers say they are willing to pay for TV and video content in HD.
