Posted on 12 February 2013 by bbiswajitece

New Handsets from Nokia yet to be launched  when just Mobile World Congress in the corner. Nokia 720 & 520 have been proved by the way of leaks as per certification given by Indonesian & the phones are based on Windows 8 OS.

Zeal is the codename given to Nokia Lumia 720 having 1 GHz dual-core CPU, 512 MB RAM, Clear Black Display of 4.3 inch, in terms of data connectivity it has HSPA+ support with USB. Again, it has 6 MP rear camera & 2 MP front camera. On the other side Nokia Lumia 520 features 8 GB internal memory with 1 GHz dual-core processor & on the camera section 5 MP on the rear part but no front camera. The screen is quite sensitive & of 4-inch & not so much RAM only 512 MB.

Nokia-Lumia-620

Actually we are looking at the pair of powerful devices & their specs might be true. Again Lumia 720 & 520′s price may be on the budget side if the price level between Lumia 920,820 & 620 has been fixed. So, we are mainly focussing on Lumia 5xx models since the price is very cheap & possess sporty look.

Again it only depends on Nokia to bring this wonderful phones into Indian market after the phone had made their appearance in MWC 2013. Already, the phones from Nokia has hit the Indian market quite late for example phone like Lumia 900. Most of us will be guessing that only this 2 phones will be launched or there will be some tablets from this Finnish company.

Industry’s First FTTD Solution launched by Huawei

Posted on 11 February 2013 by bbiswajitece

One of the global leader in ICT i.e. Information & Communication Technology providing unique service to the consumer i.e. one & only fiber to the door (FTTD) solution.

Being an ultra broasband solution it provides data rates of around 100 Mbit/s to 1000 Mbit/s quite fast via. twisted pair or coaxial cables by developing different types of technologies, project implementation technologies, service provisioning & OAM technologies.

In this modern world for accessing large size videos & use the cloud services consumers need ultra broadband solutions. Already the earlier techniques like FTXX i.e. categorized into two parts like  FTTB and FTTH. Some cons & pros of using FTTB are like limited bandwidth, power supply issues based on different kinds of site location, grounding issues. Similarly, in case of FTTH most problem anyone faces is high cost, long installation time, drop fiber installation. Nowadays telco opertors are providing higher bandwidth at home by using copper cables rather than fiber cables.

So, if we talk about FTTD there are some quite advantages i.e. free grounding, reverse power supply, free configuration to support the plug-and-play feature &  no need to perform on-site configurations. Again FTTH OSS system is reused for OAM & service provisioning & the same equipments is easy to handled.

huaweifttd

President, Access Network Product Line at Huawei You Yiyong told “Huawei is dedicated to continuous customer-centric innovation. We believe that the FTTD solution can help our customers resolve difficulties in deploying FTTH networks. Relying on the advantages of the FTTD solution such as ultra-broadband access through any medium, simple deployment, and remote management, operators can stay ahead of the fierce market competition and achieve business success.”

Cassidian and Alcatel-Lucent bring 4G LTE mobile broadband to professional mobile radio in the 400 MHz frequency band

New ‘Evercor®’ solution integrates LTE mobile data capabilities with professional mobile radio enabling real-time video, collaboration and data services that improve operations and safety

Evercor will help network operators in public safety, transport and energy to save money by optimizing existing assets while providing an evolutionary path to LTE

Alcatel-Lucent

TETRA World Congress (TWC), Dubai May 15, 2012 – Cassidian, an EADS company, and Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) are to enhance safety and operations for public safety agencies, energy and transport companies with the launch of a new solution called ‘Evercor®’. Based on 4G LTE technology, it enables the use of video, data and other media to improve the way the security professionals serve and protect their communities.

Evercor integrates Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE mobile broadband with TETRA-based systems to form the first end-to-end integrated LTE 400 professional mobile radio (PMR) solution for the 380-470 MHz band – the frequency band currently used by public safety agencies and other essential services in many parts of the world. As a result it will support new broadband communications capabilities such as real-time video to complement existing radio systems. It also allows transport and energy companies using TETRA communications to benefit from mobile broadband applications.

Alcatel-Lucent and Cassidian are showing how Evercor enhances information-sharing between control centers and field operations at TETRA World Congress 2012 in Dubai. By delivering high-speed 4G LTE mobile broadband services such as enhanced location information and transmission of medical records to ‘smart’ emergency response vehicles, handheld tablet devices and control center systems, teams will be equipped with the vital information they need to rapidly prepare for and respond to any incident. This can improve safety and security for both the public and workers and allow teams to more quickly identify locations and respond to incidents.

The use of real-time video and data services will improve operations for those working in the transport and energy industries. Early warnings of outages and incidents will in turn result in faster response and reduced maintenance time and costs. For all companies using TETRA communications, the solution will enable cost-efficiencies, allowing them to re-use their existing sites and equipment.

Jean Marc Nasr, Head of Secure Communication Solutions at Cassidian said: “The launch of this innovative solution comes only a year since we announced the joint work program between Alcatel-Lucent and Cassidian and shows the real progress we’ve made to enhance operations for companies using the 400 MHz band. We are able to integrate these services within the Cassidian command-and-control collaborative suite of applications for our Public Safety and Defence users.”

Philippe Keryer, President of Alcatel-Lucent’s Networks Group said: “Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G LTE architecture is being embraced by the public safety sector. Evercor delivers the highest speeds and greatest capacity for mobile broadband communications networks today and supports essential operations in the most cost-effective manner. Alcatel-Lucent has deep-rooted expertise in providing groundbreaking mobile broadband communications solutions to enhance operations and safety across many industries and we are pleased to work with Cassidian to achieve this.”

The Evercor solution uses Alcatel-Lucent’s eNodeB base stations, wireless packet core and backhaul solutions, and Cassidian LTE 400 Remote Radio Head, terminals and applications. The LTE 400 eNodeB can be fitted into Cassidian’s new TB3S TETRA Base station. Working in the 400 MHz bands delivers advantages over communications in a higher frequency band. Fewer base stations are required to provide coverage to a comparable geographic area and communication is made more reliable inside buildings and within built up urban areas.

Nokia Siemens Networks breaks ‘spectrum barrier’ to enhance mobile broadband

Posted on 09 May 2012 by Kiran Mehra

Nokia Siemens Networks has introduced two innovations that allow operators to deliver mobile broadband more effectively with their existing spectrum. They form part of the company’s Liquid Radio GSM software suite*, the industry’s first complete offering for frequency re-farming that ensures exceptional flexibility in using limited GSM spectrum more efficiently.

Nokia Siemens Networks

Described by the company as Energy Efficient Coverage (EEC)**, the first innovation enables existing GSM spectrum to support up to double the amount of traffic. Alternatively, it can achieve the same GSM performance using less spectrum, thus freeing up more frequencies for WCDMA re-farming. In addition it can significantly improve network coverage.

The second innovation is Configurable Carrier Bandwidth*** for WCDMA. This allows WCDMA carrier bandwidth to be set in software configurable steps of 200 kHz from the very narrow 3.8 MHz up to 4.2 MHz, depending on an operator’s spectrum. It gives operators full flexibility to allocate more GSM spectrum to WCDMA as it becomes available. The feature also allows co-location of GSM and WCDMA on the same frequency band for operators with extremely limited spectrum.

The two new software features will be available commercially in the second half of 2012.

“Mobile spectrum is scarce, and operators want to maximize the GSM spectrum they can re-farm to WCDMA and LTE,” said Dhruv Khanna, head of sales development for Mobile Broadband, North America, Nokia Siemens Networks. “Our software suite addresses this challenge. Operators can re-farm using much narrower spectrum than before, deliver GSM and WCDMA with 30% less spectrum, and also lower total cost of ownership by 20%. Moreover, they can deliver a vastly improved user experience, and potentially attract more customers to increase revenues.”

Operators can deploy the features with Nokia Siemens Networks’ Single RAN platform via a simple software upgrade to evolve their networks smoothly, and cost-efficiently manage the huge growth in mobile broadband traffic.

To help operators increase network capacity and improve network performance, Nokia Siemens Networks offers planning and implementation services for WCDMA and LTE re-farming. By supporting more than 65% of commercial WCDMA and over 50% of commercial LTE re-farming networks, the company is the leader in spectrum re-farming services.

Alcatel-Lucent bolsters the performance of enterprise data center networks

Posted on 09 May 2012 by Kiran Mehra

Alcatel-Lucent  today announced a major upgrade of its award-winning data center switching solution or ‘fabric’, the Alcatel-Lucent Mesh. By extending high-performance 40 gigabit Ethernet (40 GigE) links throughout the Mesh, the company has dramatically increased the speed, responsiveness and flexibility of enterprise data center networks, making them better able to support bandwidth-devouring, real-time applications like video collaboration, virtual desktop, and the growing array of cloud services.

Alcatel-Lucent

To complete the evolution to 40 GigE in the Mesh, Alcatel-Lucent has added 40 GigE capabilities to its OmniSwitch 10K Modular Ethernet LAN Chassis, a high-performance network core switch. This move – coupled with the use of a technique called ‘Shortest Path Bridging’ which optimizes server-to-server communications across the entire Mesh -enables enterprises to essentially transform their data center networks into private clouds, giving them the flexibility to reconfigure data center resources quickly and easily.

To complement the 40 GigE enhancements, the Alcatel-Lucent Mesh has also been verified as Citrix Ready™.  The Citrix Ready program helps customers identify third-party solutions that are recommended to enhance networking and cloud computing solutions from Citrix, and ultimately provide a seamless experience for users. Alcatel-Lucent is collaborating with external linkCitrix to support the growing demands of mobile workstyles, cloud services and the variety of new applications being delivered across enterprises wide area networks (WANs), and to support the introduction of virtualized desktops, that place a burden on the network and require a greater level of infrastructure support.

Klaus Oestermann, Group VP & GM Cloud Networking Group, Citrix said: “Networking infrastructure has taken center stage as the unstoppable forces of mobility and cloud transform the demands of the datacenter.  With the Citrix cloud networking portfolio including NetScaler 10 and Branch Repeater 6 we are giving enterprises the same cloud platform capabilities to power their business that the largest public clouds have enjoyed for years.  This is game changing, and we are excited to work with one of the world’s leading communications companies to usher in this new era.  As a charter member of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s ecosystem program, we will be able to give our enterprise customers the confidence to deploy full interoperable Citrix Ready solutions.”

Camille Janssens, ICT Director of DHL Expresssaid: “The demand for more bandwidth is a constant challenge. New technology implementations like those from Alcatel-Lucent are delivering the ability to scale to faster speeds in the future while creating a highly reliable data center capable of acting as a global hub.”

About Alcatel-Lucent’s Data Center Switching Solution, the Mesh

The Alcatel-Lucent Mesh uses a unique ‘direct connect’ architecture – where elements of the network are directly connected to each other without a central hub – to weave together smaller groupings of switches, called ‘pods’ and form a single, seamless data center network that can easily allow resources to  be automatically reallocated. The Mesh delivers low-latency, server-to-server connectivity and can scale in size from as few as 100 to over 14,000 server-facing ports with just two core switches. This scalability provides customers with the option to deploy a small data center fabric and grow as needed with the deployment of additional 10GigE capable servers. Alcatel-Lucent’s data center network solution, essentially a private cloud, can be integrated with Alcatel-Lucent’sCloudBand carrier cloud solution, creating a hybrid cloud model where employees can access a wide array of data and applications anywhere and on any device.

Specific attributes of the Mesh include:

  • Low-Latency wire-rate bandwidth - Where 40 GigE connections within the Mesh provide 1GigE and 10GigE server facing ports, which are perfect for new real-time applications requiring low latency bandwidth, such as the delivery of cloud and virtual desktop services to mobile devices
  • Applications managed as services - Where the network automatically adjusts to follow virtual machine movement both within and between data center sites for better efficiency and reduced costs
  • Shortest Path Bridging – A standard driven in part by Alcatel-Lucent in which the network provides scalable, multi-path, server-to-server connectivity that is cloud compatible enabling the optimized delivery of cloud services
  • Simplified operations - Where virtual chassis technology allows multiple switches to be managed as if they were a single switch
  • Ready for storage convergence - Where ‘loss-less’ Ethernet technology supports both iSCSI and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)  paving the way for combining applications and storage networks into a single network in the data center
  • Reduced complexity - Where Virtual Edge Port Aggregation (VEPA) technology enables a single control point for quality of service (QoS), management, and security. This ensures that there is a consistent application of QoS and security for all switching while removing duplication of management tasks
  • Long-term sustainable deployment - The solution is currently ready to support 100GigE which is already available on elements of our IP portfolio

About the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitchTM 10K Modular Ethernet LAN Chassis

The new 10 GigE and 40 GigE options for the Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 10K provides unmatched port density and wire-rate bandwidth. These new options provide value and flexibility to the customer to select the bandwidth mix and density they need today, with an upgrade option through a software license in the future, providing a pay-as-you-grow model and decreasing the barriers to scale up. These new options also allow the OmniSwitch 10K to reach a wider segment of the market that can benefit from the reliability of a chassis. The new 10 GigE and 40 GigE options will be available in Q3 2012.
